Vines Brasserie

Nestled within the charming Barton Hall Hotel in Kettering, Vines Brasserie delivers the kind of experience that blends classic British comfort with a contemporary edge. Whether you're in the mood for a casual solo lunch or celebrating something more momentous like a Sunday roast with family, this brasserie knows how to hit the right notes. The setting? Think countryside charm meets brasserie sophistication - complete with a welcoming fireplace and a stylish outdoor seating area that shines on sunny days.

From the moment you step inside, the ambience sets a relaxed tone. The space is airy yet intimate, making it perfect for both long lunches and candlelit dinners. And if accessibility is a concern, Vines Brasserie is designed with everyone in mind - featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance, car park, toilet, and seating areas. It's the kind of place where attention to detail doesn’t stop at the menu.

Speaking of the menu, it’s a delightful mix of timeless British fare and modern touches. One of the standout stars is the Sunday Lunch Roast Beef - tender, generously sliced, and perfectly complemented by rich gravy and traditional trimmings. If you're not in the mood for beef, there’s usually a Sunday Lunch Pork T-Bone on offer - equally hearty and deeply satisfying.

Appetizers at Vines Brasserie aren't just fillers - they're events. The Whitebait is crisp and golden, ideal with a glass of house Prosecco or a refreshing ale from their excellent beer list. The Beetroot with Goats Cheese and Walnuts adds a colorful, earthy balance, while the Pâté with warm bread and olives gives off just the right amount of indulgence.

If you're leaning towards fish, the Beer Battered Cod and Chips is one to bookmark. Flaky, piping hot, and served with triple-cooked chips, it's a modern twist on a pub classic done right. For meat lovers, the Lamb Shoulder is slow-cooked to melt-in-your-mouth perfection - ideal with a bold red from their well-curated wine list.

The drinks menu deserves its own moment. You’ll find everything from crisp white wines to punchy spirits and creative cocktails like the ever-popular Porn Star Martini. It’s a bar that doesn't just stock drinks; it celebrates them. The tea and coffee selection is equally impressive, especially for those visiting in the afternoon. Don't skip the desserts either - the chocolate cake and wedding cake options are surprisingly popular, even when there’s no actual wedding happening.

What truly sets Vines Brasserie apart is its balance - between elegance and approachability, fine dining and comfort food, tradition and flair. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top. Instead, it leans into quality, consistency, and a deep understanding of what makes a great dining experience. From small plates to robust mains, healthy options to hearty classics, everything is designed with the guest in mind.

There’s a reason Vines Brasserie is popular for both lunch and dinner - it’s the kind of place you find yourself coming back to, again and again. Whether it's the well-poured cocktails, the expertly roasted meats, or just a really good cup of tea by the fire, this brasserie delivers an experience that feels both special and comfortably familiar.

Unfortunately we chose to dine out when there was a Wedding on, but the food was very good, service delightful and we will probably go again

Afternoon Tea was lovely . The sandwiches had good sized sliced bread and filling. The cakes were beautifully decorated and very yummy. The Scones were a great size and we had two each! Service was lovely and attentive. Great time had by 6 of us and we look forward to coming back!

Quite pricy for mediocre food and an almost bland, forgettable atmosphere. Billed as one of the better quality and certainly pricier restaurants in the area it should offer standout service and food, unfortunately neither were on offer. We ordered the chicken and prosciutto balottene, smoked pork strips with a side of fries. For dessert the Pina Colada posset and triple ice cream. A nice selection but everything was just a bit off. The chicken was overcooked and a little dry requiring a heavy coating of jus to be enjoyable. The fries had an overused oil taste... either the oil needed refreshing or the fryer wasn't hot enough. And the posset was more mousse and the shortbread was inedible leaving a rancid aftertaste. (One of the diners is a professional baker and she was far from impressed by this!) The pork strips were nice but not great, the same with the ice cream. All of this was raised with the waiting staff who seemed somewhat disinterested. The decor of the restaurant is ultimately forgettable and almost feels like a cheap knock-off of a chain restaurant. There's a few nice touches, the white gloves used when delivering food to the table is great (not seen since Silver Service training many moons ago), but its offset by the cheaply laminated drinks menus. It obviously wants to be a high class restaurant but unfortunately it stumbles in its execution.

Absolutely outstanding Christmas Day lunch. Superb service, wonderful atmosphere and the food was amazing which can be very difficult for a traditional Christmas lunch. Maybe the best we've ever had. outstanding all around.
